IKEA to make electronics, Allen key not included

Everyone’s favourite make-it-yourself furniture store is about to get into something a little different, and we don’t think you’ll need an Allen Key or a handy diagram telling you how to build these things.

Starting next year, IKEA plans to market furniture with TVs and sound systems in Australia, launching the products in Europe later this year.

The products are set to include a range of TVs with built-in Blu-ray players aimed at cutting out excess cords and remotes, and will likely be sold alongside furniture in stores.

While Australian prices have yet to be announced, Reuters reports that “prices will start at around 6,500 Swedish crowns ($928 AUD) for the simplest combination bench unit, television and sound system”.
